On 28 September PJSC “Kyivspetstrans” has presented the landfill renovation project at the office of MSW landfill No.5 located next to Pidhirtsy village of the Obukhiv area of Kyiv region.
he company plans to reinforce the landfill’s first plot dam and the second plot dam, insulate the leachate treatment station (the premises hosting the substance created when the rain/snow hit the landfill plot) and upgrade the pumps at the sewerage pumpıng facilities by the end of the year 2018, these works being only part of the project. The renovation itself makes one of inevitable stages of landfill recultivation (safe shutdown).
According to the information from “Kyivspetstrans” PJSC, completing these works would decrease the emergency situation risks for the landfill generally and would further allow to stop waste disposal within the first landfill plot and start recultivating it.
In addition to the works mentioned above, the company plans to complete by the end of this year the works on covering the landfill slopes with inert soils from the side of Pidhirtsy village (by 1 December 2018) and from the side of Krenychee village (by 31 December 2018).
The contract entered into by “Kyivspetstrans” PJSC and “”Adamant” Construction Company” LLC presumes the total amount of the landfill renovation works to exceed UAH 326 million, the financing to be drawn from Kyiv city municipal budget. The works are expected to be completed within 28 months. The winner of the landfill renovation tender - “”Adamant” Construction Company” LLC – is particularly experienced in constructing artificial and hydrotechnical facilities and, a broader scale, in constructing various civil and industrial projects.
We remind that on 27 September Kyiv City Municipal Administration adopted its resolution No. №08/231-3054/ПР to deal with additional measures aimed at solving the problems related to operation and shutdown of the MSW landfill No. 5 located next to Pidhirtsy village in the Obukhiv area of Kyiv region and its final shutdown. The list of measures therein includes also constructing the new waste treatment facility in the city of Kyiv as an alternative to the use of the landfill.
